The Importance of the Household Spending and Income Survey and its advantages for the Saudi economy and achieving sustainable development
The Household Spending and Income Survey reflects patterns of spending on commodities and services by households in the Kingdom. It also reflects the level of income of the households, which provides beneficiaries with a large database.
- To know the relative distribution of spending on commodities and services to be used in composing the cost of living index (consumer prices);
- To measure consumer spending elasticity with a view to determining the amount of relative change in spending on commodities and services relating to each relative change in income, and to taking advantage of it for planning purposes so as to meet the expected demand on such commodities and services in the future;
- To study the relationship between population and housing characteristics of the households and their income, as well as studying the relationship between household spending and income;
- To get estimates on household spending to contribute in compiling the national accounts;
- To identify the amount of current transfers of the household sector.
